Do our neighbors hate us? Also, got a new job?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

If they don’t yet, after only one noise complaint despite the adventures we consistently have, then they do now. I broke into “That’s Amore” during a midnight Taco Bell run which lead into Karaoke Revolution Party, which lead into us getting home and finding two mics for the Xbox. What continued was the most beautiful thing known to man as Corey and I belted out truly terrible renditions of every song we came across.

Except for “Snake Eater.” There’s no way we could ruin a song with lyrics describing the act of eating tree frogs. Aside from that, though, it was a pit of shit that we formed for the past hour.

In other news I’m going to have no voice and less sleep than I should for my interview in less than six hours. I’ll update with something tomorrow with some results, hopefully favorable, towards me having a different full time job while relegating Best Buy to secondary status. Indeed.

Lastly, Bill wouldn’t sing with us. That likely means Bill sucks balls. It definitely means that. Bill sucks balls.

Biggest Game Ever?

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

April 29th saw the release of Grand Theft Auto IV. I’m just going to write this with the impression that everyone at least knows what it is. If not there are plenty of sites that can give you further reading on the series.

I purchased it at a midnight release. Any doubt I’d do otherwise? I had to pull Corey away from WoW to get a ride out but he ran into a couple of old acquaintinces so perhaps it wasn’t so bad for him.

Imagine my surprise when previous midnight launches in Beaverton’s local stores were rather small and went quick enough and instead I was met with a line of 150+ people at GameStop and 80+ at GameCrazy. We took the time to go get gas and food to bypass the time we’d be standing in line.

Since last night my game clock already shows I’ve put around twelve hours into it. And my thoughts? It’s quite good. It’s quite excellent, really. As a fully realized world there’s nothing quite like it. Some games have created large worlds, Oblivion notably, but it feels empty no matter how many trees and enemies they sprinkled about the landscapes. In Grand Theft Auto people react often enough in ways that you’d be remiss to ignore. There’s also enough unbelievable “game” reactions that aren’t realistic but make it so there’s more fun to experience as you continue unlocking each of the game’s islands.

I’m not writing a review and at this point I don’t want to write about my thoughts much more than that or lay out a bunch of great examples of what fun can be had in Liberty City.

It’s what I’m playing. That’s all.

Details on my hobbies

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

I’ve been toying with the idea of regular updates in the area of what new things I’ve come across in my hobbies but I realized before I take the time to write up just what I’ve done in Guitar Hero or why Busou Renkin is nothing all that special that I should sort of flesh out the general history of my current hobbies and what I feel about them. This sounds incredibly lame as I’m typing it but I hope it’ll be moderately decent to read.

I’ll apologize now that this is another picture-less entry. Sorry. Late nights and work have killed that aspect of my posting enthusiasm. Give it some time. Things will be marvelous. For now go and read the pretty words that follow.
