Do our neighbors hate us? Also, got a new job?

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

If they don’t yet, after only one noise complaint despite the adventures we consistently have, then they do now. I broke into “That’s Amore” during a midnight Taco Bell run which lead into Karaoke Revolution Party, which lead into us getting home and finding two mics for the Xbox. What continued was the most beautiful thing known to man as Corey and I belted out truly terrible renditions of every song we came across.

Except for “Snake Eater.” There’s no way we could ruin a song with lyrics describing the act of eating tree frogs. Aside from that, though, it was a pit of shit that we formed for the past hour.

In other news I’m going to have no voice and less sleep than I should for my interview in less than six hours. I’ll update with something tomorrow with some results, hopefully favorable, towards me having a different full time job while relegating Best Buy to secondary status. Indeed.

Lastly, Bill wouldn’t sing with us. That likely means Bill sucks balls. It definitely means that. Bill sucks balls.

Time to Become Sexy

Monday, April 28th, 2008

It’s that time. A little earlier than usual but I’ve already started back up and don’t intend to stop.

For the past few years I’ve spent the warmer middle months of the year running just about nightly for a period of time. I don’t remember why I started. I’m not exactly in an unhealthy shape, aside from being perhaps a little too skinny. I’m definitely not overweight. I could be remembering incorrectly but I believe it stemmed from running to my work near the end of the night when a lady I had a silly crush on was closing so I could help her close and then hang out for a bit before she’d give me a ride back to my place. Being without my bike made it easier if we decided to go somewhere after she was off work.

That said I consider that year one of my running frenzy. Let’s look how things have gone over the past few years.

Still Alive

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Wow. Been a few months. I’m such shit at keeping a blog.

- Work at Best Buy. Got hired soon after my last posting. I’m not a Front End Leader, which is to say a Senior without the title or pay. I tell people to do their jobs and make sure they know how to push all of our additional products and services. It is both the easiest and most stressful job I’ve had so far. That’s not saying a whole lot.

- Attended school for the first time in the Fall of 2007 and took off the Winter term because I realized that I have absolutely no money. I’m playing catch up. I was really hoping to start back up in the Spring but that’s not too likely at this point. If I stick with Best Buy and I remain full time until Fall Term I should start up Tuition Assistance. That means all school paid for by them from that point on. I’m actually pretty okay waiting until Fall 2008.

And aside from those tidbits I’m doing my usual. Gaming. Reading quite a bit. Teaching myself some coding shit online. I’m one happening dude.

I’m growing restless and need to do something. We’ll see if this blog sees any of this action.

Long absence

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

I should give some sort of update. Well, hopefully this’ll push me to write a better entry later.

One reason for such a long break in my writing is that my computer was dead for just about ten days. My video card magically went up in smoke a couple weeks back, part of it turning a nice crispy black, and in frying itself it also managed to wipe out some Windows files in the process or something. Even with another video card in place I was stuck in a start-up loop from Hell. Dell sent a technician and a new hard drive and we got things rolling again.

Not much else is new in this part of town. I’m still jobless and sadly haven’t really bothered looking for a job but money is low enough that I’ll be looking now.

My phone bill was huge this past month. I believe it’s mostly due to Jenny breaking up with me and some of our conversations being exceptionally lengthy. I called the phone company, agreed to finally sign up for another contract, and also changed my phone plan. In doing this I got a cut on my phone bill (a third was removed, yay!) and they also reminded me that I could get a new phone for cheap due to starting a new contract and such. With that on top of having my phone for so long I was able to upgrade to a new phone for cheap. My LG Chocolate just arrived and is charging next to me. I’m curious to give it a whirl.

That’s my biggest news. I’ve played a shitload of games and been watching some anime again.

I should probably go outside more.

OH OH! Sarah got married. She was beautiful and it was a fun wedding.

Eric and I bought her and her new husband an HDTV for a wedding present because we spoil her. I think we both also hope that Alex fucks up and one of us can marry her and the TV will become ours. At least I know that’s the plan in my future.

That’s all for now.

Some changes underway

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

First off, I’m officially no longer an employee with Hollywood Video. I don’t really wish to write out the details but suffice it to say the manager got very upset when I decided to use a sick day and threatened to remove the rest of my shifts. I called back a little later and told her to go ahead and take me off the schedule. So I’m free.

That brings us to the second thing. I’m moving to the Beaverton area and acting as a new roommate for Corey. For anyone that reads this and doesn’t know who he is he’s a past coworker of mine when I was down in Springfield that had moved down there and later moved back up to the Portland area where he was originally from. He’s down a roommate and I’d like some change. Having someone to talk to and hang out with should help me in some mental ways as well since Jenny isn’t able to be my friend anymore so losing that has been difficult.

I intend to learn to drive as soon as possible. There’s a multitude of reasons why I wish to do so but the sooner the better.

Once I settle in over there I hope to get a job as quickly as possible as well, which is common sense. I need money to survive and as it is I’ll likely be at least two weeks without a job if not three or so.

It seems Jenny is very quickly dealing with me as someone that’s not part of her life which is still an issue I have, mainly because it really kills my confidence, but I’ll get through that I suppose. Not like I have any option, eh?

If I seem a little down or upset it’s likely something along those lines. Give me time and I’ll try to be a happier Nick. No promises.

My Adventures in Portland: Onto Present Day

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Intro:

I covered previously most the activities from the first week. Simple stuff. I found my way around well enough. I met a bunch of coworkers. I ate food and got myself other necessary items. Good times. Let’s move on.

Act I: The Jungle

I work at two stores. This is the tale of my first days at both.

My First Week in Portland

Monday, April 16th, 2007

To make this more structured I’ll attempt to keep this organized in some sort of fashion. With that in mind let’s make use of my good friend bold.

I know ahead of time that I can be pedantic with my writing. I’ll attempt to keep that sort of thing to a minimum but I imagine for an entry or two as I catch up on everything the past two weeks it’ll almost seem like a bullet-pointed list of stuff. You can think of it as me simply setting the stage.

On with the show.
